Who's who Dave Williams (Chairman) Moved to South Petherton from Wokingham eighteen years ago when he left the Army. At present works for Autologic and commutes daily to Bristol.Married with two beautiful daughters. Time permitting Dave has always tried to support Village activities which was why he was prepared to take on the role of Chairman when it looked as if the Carnival might die. Governor member of the RNLI and a supporter of the NSPCC. Colin Silman (Vice Chair) Widowed Sept 2007 after 25 years of marriage to June.Played for and managed S.Petherton Football Club Reserves. Plays Darts and Skittles locally. Coordinator for the West End Neighbourhood Watch. Colin has sponsored various charities within the village as ‘Somaursil Bichon Frise’ and collects stamps towards Orchard FM Guide Dogs for the Blind Appeal. He has been Vice Chair of the South Petherton Carnival Committee since 2007.Firmly believes that local businesses should be supported, to ensure the village way of life is preserved. Would love to see more people involved in the running of their community. Rachel Benyon (Treasurer) I moved to South Petherton in December 2005after living for many years in both London and then Portsmouth. Darren and I decided we wanted more of a ‘village life’ both for us and for our children. I had lived in the area previously and this village seemed an ideal home for us. We all thoroughly enjoyed our first experience of the Carnival in 2006 and felt it would be a great loss if it was cancelled, I therefore stood forward to be treasurer and to actively do ‘my bit’ for the village and to help the Carnival continue! Other Committee Members are Duncan Webb and Nick Granville who have supported the carnival over many years, ranging from putting on Fundraising events, entering Carnival Floats and even saving the Carnival through their efforts to find someone to run the carnival. Claire Davis after several years of organising the Carnival royalty competitions Claire came up with the idea of a family fun day and this will be the third year that it has been held.
